Top 10 U.S. Summer Vacation Spots

The summer months are almost here, which means it is time to plan your next incredible summer vacation! There are so many destinations to choose from, but a few stand out from all the others. While we would love to highlight them all, you have to understand that it is simply not possible. Therefore, we have narrowed it down to the top ten.

The Top 10 U.S. Summer Vacation Spots

Walt Disney World, FL

1. Orlando , Florida

Orlando is one of the best summer vacation spots, especially for families. There are so many different theme parks in this part of Florida, so you can spend days having one adventure after another. Add in some time at your hotel’s pool, as well as shopping and eating at Disney Springs, and you will have a vacation to remember.

Long Beach Peninsula, WA

2. Long Beach Peninsula, Washington

A trip out to the West Coast is not complete without a stop at the Long Beach Peninsula in Washington State. There is so much to do along this shoreline, but the most popular activities include hiking, horseback riding, and bicycle riding. We recommend planning your trip according to the many different festivals that are held throughout the summer.

Traverse City, Michigan

3. Traverse City, Michigan

The state of Michigan is amazing at any time of the year, but it is during the summer that you must spend your time in Traverse City. This outdoor adventureland will have you swimming, boating, kayaking, tubing, and doing so much more under the shining sun. However, towards the end of the day, you can venture away from the beaches to visit the nearby wineries and breweries. Most of them are family-friendly, so you never need to worry about finding a babysitter for a night out on the town.

Boston, MA

4. Boston, Massachusetts

There is enough quiet in the city of Boston to ensure you have a little downtime amongst all the hustle and bustle of the major attractions. There is so much to see throughout this spectacular city, but you must start with the Freedom Trail and the Faneuil Hall Marketplace. Later in the afternoon, you can wander through the Boston Aquarium. There are many festivals held in this city during the summer months, so make sure you plan your vacation there accordingly.

5. Outer Banks, North Carolina

Memories of days gone by can be found out in the Outer Banks, where lazy days are filled with fishing, golfing, and a little windsurfing. When you are not relaxing and having fun, you can explore the lighthouses, as well as the site where the Wright Brothers took off for their first flight.

6. Steamboat Springs, Colorado

The weather is gorgeous in Steamboat Springs in Colorado during the summer months, although, it does get a little crowded. This part of the state has so many festivals at this time of the year, so you will always have something new and different to do during your stay. One of the most popular festivals in Steamboat Springs is the Hot Air Balloon Rodeo, but we are sure you will love Art in the Park as well. When you are not festival hopping, you can go hiking, white water rafting, and even do a little horseback riding.

Great Smoky Mountains, TN

7. The Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee

There is nowhere more beautiful than the Great Smoky Mountains in Tennessee. You can spend hours hiking through the park of the same name, as you search for spectacular waterfalls and gorgeous views. This is one of the best spots to do a little camping during the summer months too, because the temperatures don’t drop below the 60s at night, yet they never stay too warm either.

Napa Valley, CA

8. Napa Valley, California

Wine lovers must spend at least one summer vacation exploring Napa Valley in the state of California. There are so many wineries and vineyards to see and even more wine to taste. While you can drive to each winery on your own, we recommend booking your trip on the Napa Valley Wine Train. Of course, if you want a truly unique experience, you must visit Napa Valley during the month of July. It is during this month that the Festival Napa Valley takes place and wine tasting is at its best!

Alaska

9. Alaska

The entire state of Alaska offers thrilling adventure for nature lovers, so it is not possible to narrow it down to just one area. Thankfully, you can easily hop on a plane to get to parts of this state that are not accessible by car, as you learn how to drive a dog sled, see the wildlife, and get up close and personal to some of the best glaciers in the world.

Yellowstone National Park

10. Yellowstone National Park in Wyoming

No one can deny the fact that the Old Faithful Geyser is the most popular sight to see within this national park. As you spend your days hiking the trails, you can stop at even more wonders though and they include the Grand Prismatic Springs. There are many festivals and events held throughout the nearby towns, so make sure you leave Yellowstone once in a while for the best experience.
