Travel insurance is something that is offered for any type of trip you are planning to take. Right before you finalize your airline tickets or book a guided bus tour, you will always be asked if you want to add travel insurance to your order.

What is Travel Insurance

Travel insurance is a type of insurance that is purchased to cover all types of emergencies during travel. These emergencies can include trip cancellation, lost luggage, medical emergencies, and so much more depending on the insurance you choose.

While you can purchase it before finalizing a purchase, like mentioned above, you can also purchase travel insurance separately.

Why You Need Travel Insurance

Some people have never even thought of purchasing travel insurance before, while others will not leave home without it. In today’s world of travel, the latter is becoming the option that is used the most for international travelers, because many countries will not let you in without it.

If you end up not being able to go on your trip, the travel insurance will refund the cost of your trip (depending on the type of insurance). And if you do go on your trip, but your luggage is lost or you have a medical emergency, your travel insurance will cover the costs.

What to Ask Yourself Before Purchasing Travel Insurance

There are many questions you should ask yourself before purchasing travel insurance. The first question will be to determine what type of traveling you will be doing and what gear you will be taking with you. Then you will need to determine how much coverage you want or will need.

It is possible to take out separate plans for medical emergencies, trip cancellation, and lost luggage. However, we find it is best to find an insurer that offers it all in one convenient package.

While you can easily skip travel insurance for any of your trips, except those to countries where it is mandatory, it is not something we recommend. Yes, you can have a fabulous vacation, and nothing will go wrong. However, there are times when everything will go wrong, and you will want to make sure you are protected in the worst-case scenarios.

If you have never used travel insurance before, contact us today. We can go over all the pros and cons with you and even point you in the right direction so you can get the exact amount of insurance you need for every trip you take.
