A trip to Walt Disney World is an exciting adventure for any family member. However, one of the most stressful parts of any trip is packing, especially for a destination such as Florida where one minute there’s beautiful sunshine, and the next second it’s pouring down with rain. Today we’re going to share with you our ultimate packing essentials that you simply must not forget for your next Disney trip.
Poncho or Raingear
A trip to Walt Disney World is unlikely to have sunshine every single day due to the weather in Florida. One of the best things you can pack is some form of portable rain gear, such as a poncho. While you can buy these in the parks, they are quite overpriced, and if you are buying one for each member of your family, the money will quickly add up. Come prepared and buy a foldable raincoat or poncho in advance that you can have with you at all times in your day bag.
Water Bottle
While you can buy water bottles throughout the park or get cups of water at the quick service restaurants, it’s much easier and more environmentally friendly to carry a reusable bottle with you on your trip. Fountains are available throughout the parks, and you’ll save a fortune instead of buying a bottle of water or soda every time you’re thirsty.
External Charger or Power Bank
There’s nothing worse than your phone dying after you’ve queued to meet Mickey Mouse, so make sure you don’t miss out on those vacation memories by keeping your phone well charged. You’ll want to use the My Disney Experience app during your trip, so keep an external battery charger with you to make sure you don’t end up without your phone by lunchtime.
A good backpack or day bag
While you might be tempted to go hands-free to the parks, this isn’t very realistic for most visitors. Find a comfortable and lightweight bag that you’ll enjoy carrying each day, and that won’t cause strain or pain on your shoulders or back. You don’t need to carry a massive bag, just one that’s big enough for all of your family’s essentials.
Fans
If you’re visiting Walt Disney World in the summer months, it can become unbearably hot in the parks. Try to find some portable fans for your family, so you can keep cool in the heat. If you have a little one with a stroller, a clip-on fan is a worthwhile investment. Most of these come with long-lasting batteries, so you’ll keep your child cool during the hottest part of the day.
Sunscreen
Pack enough sunscreen for your trip in your suitcase, as purchasing this on-site can quickly add up. You’ll want to ensure you reapply it throughout the day, as even when it’s a cloudy day, the sun can be very strong in Florida.
Swimwear
Make sure you all have at least one or two pieces of swimwear packed. Even if it’s not in your plans to have much time away from the parks, all of the Disney resorts have incredible swimming pools that kids will love. For a relaxed day away from the theme park crowds, visit one of Disney’s water parks, which offer both thrilling and relaxing experiences for the whole family.
Comfortable shoes
Don’t even think about leaving for your trip without finding and breaking in a good pair of shoes. I usually wear sneakers, but Crocs are also very popular with visitors. You’ll be walking miles each day around the parks, and if your feet are in pain, it will make for a very unpleasant time.
These are just a few of the items you’ll need for your next Disney trip but are certainly the ones we never travel without.
