Splits in Bowling Are Bad, Split Stays in Disney are AWESOME!
What is a Split Stay?
Simply put, you’re splitting your stay up into two resorts and, in doing so, you and your family can double the fun. You’ll experience all the magic and amenities two resorts have to offer and take advantage of some of the unique dining and transportation to the parks.
And, don’t worry if this sounds like more logistics than you want to manage. Your Briar & Main travel designer knows just how to make your split stay as seamless as possible, with a little magic from Disney along the way!
What do I need to Consider?
If you are thinking a split stay might be perfect for your next trip, here are a couple of things you’ll want to discuss with your agent. Besides budget, choose the parks you are going visit. Many of the resorts have unique transportation to some of the parks, like the monorail, Skyliner and boats. Plus, coordinating your accommodations with convenient and quick transportation means more time enjoying the parks! Once you’ve chosen a first resort for your stay, consider stepping up a level in style and amenities to a moderate or deluxe level resort for the second part. These resorts have more dining options, too. As with any Disney trip, your travel designer will help you make sure all your park and dining reservations are set, and help you with FastPasses, too (if available.) They’ll also help you make sure both of your reservations are linked in your My Disney Experience app.
Once you trip is underway, there is only one thing left you need to do to switch resorts. On check out day at your first resort, take your baggage to Bell Services in the lobby and let them know you are changing resorts. They’ll sprinkle some pixie dust over your bags and magically transfer them to your new resort for you. And, you’re free to head out to the park or the pool to enjoy your day! When you return that evening to your new resort, stop by Bell Services and pick up your bags before heading to your room.
Can you give me an example?
Here’s the itinerary of a split stay my family recently completed. For the first half of the stay, we chose Pop Century, a value resort.
During our stay, we visited Epcot and Hollywood Studios via the Skyliner for easy, convenient, and FUN travel to those parks. For the second half of our stay, we transferred to Wilderness Lodge, a deluxe resort. We took the boat to Magic Kingdom, the bus to Animal Kingdom and enjoyed a pool day. It really was a great way to enjoy two vacations in one and treat ourselves a little at the end. We absolutely loved it and can’t wait to plan our next stay at a resort on the monorail.
