The Top 5 European Honeymoon Destinations
1. Santorini
The breathtaking views you will experience while honeymooning in Santorini will have you never wanting to return home. We recommend walking from Fira to Oia before relaxing on any of the pebble covered beaches. After a cable car ride from the Old Port to Fira, you may want to take a picnic dinner over to Amoudi Bay to watch the sunset over the water. If you have the time, a trip to Nea Kameni Island to see the volcano should be at the top of your list.
2. Venice
If you are looking for a unique destination for your honeymoon, we recommend gorgeous Venice. As you ride in a gondola through the canals, you will have ample opportunities to see the popular attractions of the city. However, you may need to take a walking tour later on since you will be too busy gazing into each other’s eyes to take much more in. If you have a little extra time, we recommend taking a cruise out on the Adriatic Sea.
3. Paris
Adding Paris to this list might seem a cliché, but you can’t argue with the fact that this city is about as romantic as they get! Start your honeymoon with a stroll through the Palais Royal Gardens or simply sit and enjoy each other’s company at the Luxembourg Gardens. Next should be a stop at the Louvre to see the Mona Lisa and then you can both climb to new heights at the Arc de Triomphe. After a romantic dinner one evening, ride the elevator up to the top of the Eiffel Tower to take in the sights.
4. Rome
History is everywhere in Rome and you can create your own history when you are there on your honeymoon. You can visit a multitude of historic attractions, but your favorites might be within Vatican City. A few that we recommend include St. Peter’s Basilica, the Colosseum, Pantheon, and the ever-popular Trevi Fountain. Make sure you toss a few coins in and make a wish, so you can guarantee a return trip to Rome in the future. Maybe for your ten- or twenty-year anniversary??!!
5. Tuscany
The region of Tuscany has long been known as a destination with a romantic vibe. You can explore the countryside as soon as you arrive, but make sure you take the time to do a little wine tasting at the wineries along the way. A few attractions that you must-see during your visit include the Leaning Tower of Pisa, Castello di Verrazano, and the Piazza del Campo. If you both love to shop, or at least mingle with the locals, a trip to the Lucca Antique Market should be considered.
